It’s been two and a half years since I launched this Substack, and I am pleased and proud of it, and will continue to write about psychospiritual and cultural excellence here.
As most of you know, I spent almost my whole career in politics and public policy. I worked with 700 elected American leaders from 45 states (and both major political parties) on policy, communications, or both. I also worked on 13 gubernatorial and U.S. Senate campaigns.
I’m a centrist, an independent, and a futurist. And, as you might guess from this Substack, I take a perspective that I consider to be rooted in moral principles and firm views of psychospiritual development and maturity. I also have a keen understanding of political history and of generations in a general and political sense. All this adds up to give me a unique take on political developments.
I’ve avoided politics in this New Florence Substack, except to write about the foundations of democracy and what went wrong in Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. But, while I’ve retired from political work, I’ve remained an engaged citizen, taking in news and analysis and opinion every day from a variety of sources and viewpoints.
At this point, I’ve decided to launch a second Substack where I can share my views on some key news events, policy areas, trends, and political developments — and where my readers and I can engage in discussion and debate. I think I bring a unique perspective that I don’t find anywhere else. And I hope to build a small Substack community of thoughtful citizens from across the country and around the world. Together, I hope we’ll bring more light than heat to political events.
If this interests you, I invite you to join me. Here:
